Sydney Schrant – Cheney

#2 player the last two years.

Kooper Williams – Cheney

Played varsity the last two years. Competed the last 2 season as our #3.

Tyler Campbell – Clearwater

He should be our best golfer for Clearwater.

Lakin Matthews – Maize South

Lakin has been a consistent golfer for the Mavs his four years in the program. Lakin finished one stroke off of a state champion in 2024 after carded a -7 at Sandcreek the 1st day of the state tournament. Lakin also won the Wichita City Boys Junior Golf Tournament last summer.

Talen Nasone – Wichita East

Junior. Finished 2nd in the City League Tournament (-4). Finished 1st @ Regionals (+6). Will be one to watch for this season.  Plans on competing at the D1 level when he graduates next year.

Kyran Shane – Wichita East

Has been grinding this offseason.  I hope to see him under 20 handicap.

Anderson Tung – Wichita East

Anderson is our second best golfer.  Senior. Handicap in the single digits. Will play D1 unless he gets to go to an IVY league school.   Hard worker and a great overall kid.

Luke Springer & Jackson Loomis – Eisenhower

Luke is most definitely the hardest working player I have ever coached.  He is very dedicated to improving his game.  He is still relatively new to the game, but has quickly become one of the best players in the state. Jackson brings lots of experience/knowledge to the team.  Being his coach/dad, he has been around the game his entire life.  With improvements to his short game, he has the potential to be one of the top players in the state.

Liam Ellis – Perry Lecompton

Liam was a place away from going to state last season. He has worked hard in the off-season to lower his scores and is looking to be a state qualifier in his senior season.

Easton Graves – Perry Lecompton

Easton just started to golf last year and was a member of our varsity team. I am expecting a huge jump from him this year.

Colton Bahnmaier – Perry Lecompton

Colton has steadily improved his first two years as a golfer for PLHS. I know he has been golfing quite a bit outside of school to make this his best season yet.

Cole Palmer – Wichita Trinity Academy

This young man is a great student and a great golfer! After coaching 14 years for Wichita Trinity Academy, it’s always a blessing to have a coach’s player. One who’s teachable, and willing to do whatever it takes to get to the next level! Cole is one of those young men!

This young man lives and plays golf in South Africa all summer and then comes back to the states during the school year. It’s a great story and very fitting for a great young man!

Aaron Hartman – Abilene

Aaron Hartman will be our lone returning golfer who finished his junior year off playing his best golf. He finished fourth at the 4A Regional and concluded the season finishing 18th @ State.

Nolin Hartman – Abilene

Nolin competed as a freshman and saw success. Nolin is a young and competitive golfer who continues to improve his game in the off-season. His best finish last year was 6th @ Concordia. I look for Nolin to have a great sophomore season.

Kory Meireis – Kingman

2024 Season Average was a 76.9

Overall HS career average is 78.3.

2024 KGCA 2nd Team

2023 KGCA 1st Team

Peyton Heilman – El Dorado

Our only four-year participant. He is a leader at school, in the classroom, and at practice. Peyton always comes to practice ready to work and sets an example for our younger players.

Ryan Mitchell – El Dorado

Ryan is heavily involved in school activities. Outside of golf Ryan is involved with football, choir, encore and band.

Grant McAtee – Pratt

Grant is a two-time all-state golfer who has competed in the state golf tournament the last 3 years, twice as an individual and once with the team.

Beau Ferrell – Pratt

Beau is a freshman this year and competes with Grant through the summer at our local course. He looks to compete early for a top varsity spot and contribute as a varsity golfer quickly.

Hudson Rector – Pratt

Hudson spends a lot of time working on his game trying to improve all aspects to be more consistent. As a 5-9, 275 lb offensive lineman, he has to work hard finding the finesse in his game that spores him to compete consistently. Grant McAtee Grant is as humble as they come. He is not afraid of the spotlight, but never seeks it. He puts in extra work after practice and on weekends to be the best he can be.

Ethan Wirth – Rock Hills

Ethan is a junior with two solid high school golf seasons under his belt. As a freshman, Ethan placed in the top 10 at many tournaments and was a state qualifier, placing in the top half. His sophomore year was very similar with him placing higher in those same tournaments and massively improving in the rankings at state and took second. He also helped his team place in many tournaments as well . Ethan is very active in school and in the community. He is a 4.0 student and involved in football, basketball, FFA, FBLA, Scholars Bowl, National Honor Society, a member of Boy Scouts for 11 years and is currently working on his Eagle Scout project. Ethan is a great all around kid, a very positive role model on the golf course and is looking forward to this upcoming golf season.

Luke Newell – Salina Sacred Heart

Luke has been a three-year letterman.  He has placed third at state each of those three years.  Luke is motivated to be the medalist this year at state.  Last September, Luke participated in the Pure Insurance Senior PGA tour event at Pebble Beach and Spyglass.  Luke was paired with Sr. PGA tour player Jeff Maggert. He got to play two practice rounds.  One at Spyglass and one at Pebble Beach.  Then Luke and Jeff played in the team event.  They played Pebble Beach first where they shot a team 6 under par.  The second day at Spyglass they shot even par.  They finished tied 11th and made the cut.  The last day they shot 4 under to place eighth overall in the team event.  It was a great learning experience for Luke.  Luke plans on playing college golf at a TBD college.

Dominic Matteucci – Salina Sacred Heart

Dominic played in all of our varsity meets last year.  He is a special athlete.  He’s the starting QB and plays point guard for the basketball team.  As a freshman, last year, he placed 12th at state.  I’m really looking forward to coaching him for his 3 remaining years.

Ben Marrs – Salina Sacred Heart

Ben does all the little things right.  He’s one of the highest character golfers that I know.  Just a joy to be around.  He always gives his best in each thing he does.

Cameron Morris – Sterling

Cameron is a steady and level-headed athlete who consistently demonstrates the ability to maintain composure on the course, regardless of the circumstances. His mental fortitude allows him to navigate the challenges of competitive play without becoming overly emotional, whether he is experiencing a high or low moment. This quality is invaluable in golf, where maintaining focus and composure can often be the difference between success and failure. One of Cameron’s most impressive traits is his exceptional course management. He approaches each round with a strategic mindset, carefully considering his shots and making calculated decisions that reflect his understanding of the game. Additionally, Cameron possesses a solid short game, which is crucial for scoring well. His commitment to improving his skills is evident, and I have no doubt that he has a very high ceiling in terms of his potential as a golfer. Last season, Cameron had a strong performance, qualifying for the state championship. He has shown remarkable determination to build upon that experience and is committed to improving his game further. I am confident that with his work ethic and focus, he will achieve even greater success in the upcoming season.

Tate Edwards – Olathe South

Tate had a really good freshman season in 2024. He qualified for our very first Varsity tournament and never looked back. He consistently got better throughout the year and finished playing some of his best golf with a season low round of 71 at Buffalo Dunes in the state tournament preview tournament. He looks to improve on his season average of 79.7 last season and elevate himself to state medalist contention this season.

Daniel Bryant – Olathe South

Daniel will be one of our senior leaders this season. He has worked his way up the lineup in our program every season with hard work and determination. Every season, Daniel has come back a much more well-rounded player for us. He leads by example and will be an integral part of  our success this season.

Grayson Kelso – Olathe South

Grayson is headed for a breakout junior season. He earned his way into the varsity lineup last season and became one of our most reliable bags by the end of the season. He is a kid that does all the right things and is very dedicated to improving. He is most interested in our team’s success, which makes him a very popular teammate. Grayson will be a guy that we rely on heavily this season, and I expect him to flourish in that role for us.

Reid Shelite – Augusta

Reid is a returning sophomore, and had a very successful freshman season. He received all league and regional honors,  qualified for state as an individual and advanced to day two competition as a freshman. He’s a three sport kid who does things the right way. We expect him to continue finding success on the golf course.

Beckham Stoops – Augusta

Beckham is an incoming freshman, and will compete for the top spot early on. He’s a great athlete, and has been instrumental to our basketball team’s success this season.

Cale Wills & Noah Cervantes – Augusta

These two are returning sophomores and played varsity all last season as freshman. Noah was an all league medalist and they both helped anchor a very young group of kids. They show up, work hard, and I don’t have to worry about the decisions they make on or off the golf course.

Anderson Helmer – Circle

Anderson is a dedicated junior at Circle High School, consistently demonstrating a strong work ethic both academically and athletically. His commitment to the game of golf is evident, as he spends much of his time on the course when not at school. Anderson’s passion for the sport has directly contributed to the success of the team, as his individual achievements inspire and elevate those around him. A two-time state placer, he is focused on continuing to improve and is determined to pursue another individual championship. His relentless drive and love for the game make him an invaluable asset to the team.

Kyson Smith – Circle

Sophomore. Kyson began playing golf just prior to his freshman year and quickly established himself as a leader on the JV team this past season. His passion for the sport led him to secure a job at the local golf course, where he dedicates his free time to honing his skills. With his strong work ethic and commitment to improvement, Kyson is hopefully going to step up and into a varsity role this year.

Logan Martin – Circle

Senior. Logan made an immediate impact during his freshman season, leading the team to its first-ever appearance at the state tournament. Since then, he has been an invaluable asset to the team, providing exceptional leadership and a deep understanding of the game. His dedication to the sport is evident in his willingness to help underclassmen improve their skills and in his commitment to ensuring the entire team is well-prepared for upcoming tournaments. Always the last to leave practice, Logan goes above and beyond to support both varsity and JV players. His selflessness and desire for everyone around him to succeed make him an easy athlete to coach and a true unsung hero for the team.

Liam Ellis – Perry Lecompton

Liam was a place away from going to state last season. He will be one of our leaders on the team and holds himself to an incredibly high standard.

Marius Carlsen – Perry Lecompton

Marius is a foreign exchange student who will make a big impact in our program. He has already been out playing with our kids and getting to know Kansas golf. Really looking forward to seeing what he contributes to the program.

Grady Theurer – Coldwater -South Central

Grady has put in a lot of time since last season honing and refining his game. He should be one of our better players this season both for our school and in our league.

Garrett Woolsoncroft – Valley Center

Garrett missed the state tourney last year by one stroke at regionals. He had a couple bad holes but was par golf the rest of the way. He consistently is out on the course practicing his game. He signed with Southwestern and will continue his career there next year. His dedication to the game and getting better is what all coaches wish their players would have. I look forward to seeing his success this year as he leads the team.

Christian Fowler – Valley Center

Christian is an up and coming golfer I’ve watched for years as a child. He plays a lot of KJGA tourneys against some of the top in the state. His game is consistent and he saves shots through his mental game.

Caden Hess – Valley Center
Caden is our golfer that will improve the most over the course of the year. He has had some really great tournaments where a couple bad shots get him to drop some strokes but he can definitely fix this to improve his game and make part of a qualifying state team. He has a natural swing that makes the ball go a long way and he can play ahead of players through those types of shots.
