Andover Central boys swimming is entering the 2025 season with high expectations under the guidance of head coach Kirsten Nicholas.
Coach Nicholas is in her second season for both her and her assistant; each bringing prior coaching experience in swimming and soccer.
Nicholas began swimming at 8 years old, and has built her coaching philosophy on instilling hard work, discipline, and determination in her athletes.
“Seeing them achieve their goals is one of the most fulfilling feelings,” Nicholas said. “Seeing them excited makes me excited.”
This year’s team boasts a mix of talented newcomers and experienced leaders. Some freshmen to watch include Logan Hall, Aiden Boland, and Justin and Landon Clouse, while the Voros brothers are expected to make waves in the pool. Seniors Tyler and Bryce Haislett serve as team captains. Tyler has qualified for state all four years, consistently finishing in the top eight and setting multiple school records, while Bryce has earned consideration times for state individually and through relay teams. Ethan Shann and Landon Huskey round out a group of swimmers expected to make significant contributions this season.
Coach Nicholas emphasizes motivation and confidence in her coaching style.
“I push them but also try to make it fun where I can,” Nicholas said. “I want to show them what they are capable of. Encourage them to try new things even if they fail. Her mantra for the team is simple, ‘Confidence comes from what you do in practice every day.”
