Augusta’s Brody Haskell – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Core Performance

Augusta’s senior Brody Haskell won’t be done with baseball after he finishes his season with the Orioles. He plans to go to Butler Community College and hopefully play at a university after that.

Haskell spent a lot of this offseason preparing for his senior year with the Orioles.

“Working out with my summer team and going to the optional workouts my high school team provides has kept me involved with baseball,” Haskell said.

One specific thing that Haskell made a point of emphasis this summer was his defense.

“I take a lot of pride in my defense, and I believe I can get to any ball near me. I want to be more consistent and have less errors than the previous year,” Haskell said.

Haskell plays shortstop and last year was first team all-state. He hit close to .500, as well as being the league MVP.

Being a member of the varsity team for all four years, Haskell has a big role on and off the field.

“My job is to be a leader and enhance the performance of my teammates by being a good teammate, while also handling my business the right way,” Haskell said.

Haskell is excited to play this one last season with his teammates and hopes to end the year strong.

“I have been playing baseball for up to 15 years now and it is something that I have loved for my whole life. Playing one last season with the kids I grew up with means a lot, and I want to take full advantage of it,” Haskell said.
