Augusta’s Kaylee Cox – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Cindy Waggoner State Farm

Augusta’s Kaylee Cox is looking forward to soaking in her last season with her teammates and making the most of every opportunity to compete alongside them.

“I am most excited to get to soak in my last season with my teammates this year,” Cox said. “I hope to just enjoy the season and have fun!”

Cox spent much of the offseason preparing for another successful season. She competed in numerous tournaments, worked with golf instructors and continued to find opportunities to sharpen her game.

“In the offseason I have played in a lot of tournaments, and have gotten some golf lessons,” Cox said. “I also went out with my family for fun or went out to sharpen my skills on my own.”

While Cox has continued to work on the physical side of her game, she said one of her biggest areas of focus this season will be her mental approach.

Cox said she has found herself becoming stressed during golf season in the past and wants to approach this season with a more relaxed mindset.

“I am wanting to improve my mental state this year,” Cox said. “I have found myself being very stressed out during the golf season, and want to relax more this year and have more fun.”

That mindset could be important as Cox looks to build consistency into her game. Rather than focusing on one particular round, she wants to put together strong performances throughout the season.

“A goal I have for myself this year is to be consistent,” Cox said. “I have to consistently shoot good scores.”

Cox enters her senior season with an impressive postseason résumé. She finished seventh at the state tournament as a sophomore and has been a regional runner-up three times, finishing second as a freshman, sophomore and junior.

Now, with her final high school season ahead, Cox has an opportunity to add to that résumé while enjoying the experience with the teammates who have been part of her journey.
