Kenzie Polk, a senior at Buhler High School, is stepping onto the soccer field for her last year as a Crusader. Polk plays right back on the defensive line and is excited to play one last year with her teammates. “I have so much faith in this team to make it to state and win the league title,” she added about her team.

To prepare for her final high school season, Polk geared up by competing in fall club soccer as well as playing indoor soccer in the winter. Coming into the season, Polk knew where she wanted to focus her attention to improve her game. “I want to improve on my ball handling and make smart moves because as a defender, you have to have quick, smart moves,” Polk shared with Vype Magazine. Polk used her time during the fall and winter seasons to master these skills.

As a team, the goal is to win regionals and take home the league title. For a personal goal, Polk shared she would like to be named at least Second Team All-State.

Polk stays busy outside of soccer because she is involved in volleyball in the fall, and basketball in the winter months, and is also a member of National Honor Society and FCA. After graduation, Polk would like to major in business and accounting while earning a real estate license. Polk plans to start at Hutchinson Community College and then transfer to Wichita State University after her time in Hutchinson is complete.
