Campus High School senior Emily Nedeau is stepping into her final basketball season with a strong sense of purpose. As a point guard and shooting guard, Nedeau is focused on using her experience and leadership to help guide the Colts to a winning year.
“My goal is to step into more of a leadership role this year and lead the team to a winning season,” she said. That mindset comes from years of playing alongside many of the same teammates, something Nedeau deeply values. “I’m excited to play with the same girls I’ve been playing with and see how we’ve grown as a team.” Nedeau believes that the team will find success from the bond they have built over the years.
One event she’s especially looking forward to is the team tournament at Salina South. “It’ll be a great chance to see what our team is going to be like this year,” Nedeau said.
Over the summer, Nedeau put in the work to prepare for her senior season, attending weights, team workouts, and open gyms after volleyball season ended. Her commitment shows in her steady improvement, highlighted by one of her proudest moments. Nedeau scored 17 points in the game against Maize last year. “It really helped my team and boosted my confidence as a player,” she said.
Nedeau is a standout student-athlete who stays busy beyond basketball. She also competes in volleyball and long-distance track, and is involved in NHS, the environmental club, link crew, and an early childhood internship at a local elementary school. After graduation, she plans to play college volleyball while pursuing a PhD in developmental psychology to one day work in a hospital or clinical setting.
