Class 4A State Football Recap – Presented by Visit Wichita

Twelve straight state championships seemed inevitable for Bishop Miege as they once again dominated their way through the Class 4A state playoffs. However, the Andover Central Jaguars had a different story to write.

In a thrilling showdown, the Jaguars ended Miege’s historic streak and captured their first state championship in school history with a hard-fought 49-42 victory. It was a game for the ages, marking a monumental moment for Andover Central and an unforgettable upset in Kansas high school football history.

“We were all just so thrilled and energized,” Tuttle said. “The players and coaches put so much work into this season and were so driven and competitive in the state final.”

The Jaguars were propelled to victory by an extraordinary performance from running back Maddox Archibald, who rushed for an astounding 345 yards. Archibald capped off his historic night by scoring the game-winning touchdown.

“We are extremely grateful and thank the Good Lord that we were able to coach such an awesome group of young men,” Tuttle said. “They worked so hard to improve on last year’s state runner-up performance, and played their hearts out to win the championship.”
