Finishing 11th at state was not what Conway Springs senior Connor Koster wanted, but this season he hopes to make himself proud and finish his senior year the right way.
“I didn’t do nearly as well at state last year as I would have liked. It was my first year, and I was unprepared. I’m using that disappointment as motivation to prepare myself going into this year,” Koster said.
To redeem himself, the Conway Springs high jumper and triple jumper has been working constantly in the offseason to improve.
“I’ve stepped up my workouts in school and mostly focused on increasing my vertical,” Koster said. “I want to consistently hit my PR at every meet. I’ve been focusing on everything high jump-related, especially my jumping form and what I need to improve to get a perfect jump.”
Koster has big goals for his senior year, including improving his performance at state.
“One of my goals this season is to medal in three events at every track meet. For the team, my main goal is to encourage everyone to try something new. You never know what you might like and be really good at,” Koster said.
Last season, Koster racked up several accolades in the high jump and triple jump, earning 10 gold medals and 20 total medals.
