James Middlebrook is going to be a senior this fall at Derby High School. Middlebrook will be playing strong safety for The Panthers. Goals that Middlebrook has set for himself this year are not only on the football field, but also academic goals. Middlebrook would like to get good grades this year. His ultimate goal for football season is to win state.
Middlebrook enjoys spending time with his teammates. “I’m looking forward to having fun with my teammates.” In addition to having fun together, Middlebrook wants to focus on improving throughout the season with his teammates. With all the fun and improvement this team is expected to have over the course of the season, Middlebrook is also betting on a state championship.
To prepare for this upcoming senior season of football, Middlebrook has spent a lot of time working on various parts of his game. “I’ve been working on my technique, speed, and strength by going to camps and training a lot.”
Last year The Panthers made it to state, a feat Middlebrook is proud to share with Vype Magazine. During his junior year, Middlebrook also had some impressive stats to share. He made 70 solo tackles during the season and 90 tackles in total.
Although Middlebrook is currently undecided of where to go to college, he would like to attend college after high school graduation. Middlebrook is interested in continuing his football career into the collegiate level. While at college, Middlebrook is interested in studying business or psychology. Before graduation in the spring, Middlebrook will finish off his career as a Panther running during the spring track season.
