El Dorado’s Grady Scanlon is eager to see how the work he has put in throughout his career will show up on the field for his final season.

“I’m most excited to see how all my hard work from my last three years will pay off in my last high school season,” Scanlon said.

To get ready for the upcoming season, Scanlon has focused on staying consistent with his training and workouts.

“To prepare for the season I’ve been working out and training multiple times a week,” Scanlon said.

While the physical side of the game is important, Scanlon has also been placing an emphasis on strengthening the mental side of baseball.

“One area that I want to improve on is more of the mental side of the game,” Scanlon said. “Some ways that I’ve kind of worked on the mental side is by trying to not let things bother me that usually could when I’m in my training.”

Looking ahead to the new season, Scanlon has both team and individual goals he hopes to accomplish.

“A goal that I have for my team is to just compete and give it our all every time we step on the field,” Scanlon said. “A personal goal for me is to break the season’s stolen base record.”

After his high school career comes to a close, Scanlon already has plans in place to continue his baseball journey at the next level.

“My plans after high school are to go to Butler Community College and continue playing baseball,” Scanlon said.
