Boys

SM Northwest 63, Maize 55 — Each time SM Northwest looked like it was pulling away — up 20-13, up 37-27, for instance — Maize made big shots. With SM Northwest leading 46-41 after three, Alan Hanna and Brayden Myovela both scored in the first minute to get within one. But Maize didn’t get any closer than 61-55. SM Northwest’s Tyler Salmon hit his first four three-pointers and scored 18 points. Ethan Taylor, SMNW’s 7-footer, scored 19 with six rebounds and two blocks. Van Collins had 12 points. Maize’s Alec Grill was 9-of-12 shooting, including 4 of 6 from three, for a game-high 22 points. Myovela scored 13 with six rebounds, four assists, two blocks and Justin Hanna had 10 points, three blocks.

St. Thomas Aquinas 68, Spring Hill 54 — Aquinas’ Alex Crouse scored 22 points, hitting three threes, and Laila Boylan scored 20 with seven assists. Sofia Calovich had 12 points, 11 rebounds. Spring hill’s Isla Herman had a team-high 19 points, and Sydney Buscher scored 17 with 13 rebounds.

Boys

McPherson 52, Ottawa 50 2OT — McPherson handed Ottawa its first loss as Gabe Pyle hits the game-winning shot for the second straight game to win in double overtime. Pyle scored 16 points and had six rebounds, and Jett Pyle scored 13 with four assists. Ottawa was led by Haydon Hull’s 18 points — he hit 4 of 6 from three. Cole McGrath had 11 points, Aiden McCullough 13 rebounds and five assists.

Halstead 46, Colby 33 — Halstead’s Bailey Bernal scored 16 points, and Addisen Wills and Jordy Schroeder each scored 10. Wills had four assists, three steals. Colby’s Shaylee Holzmeister had 15 rebounds.

Moundridge 74, Valley Falls 46 — Moundridge, which is unbeaten, was led by Henry Hecox, who hit 4 of 7 from three and finished with 17 points. Bear Moddelmog scored 16, and Heath Churchill had 16 points, nine rebounds, two blocks. Kaiser Kanitz had six assists and two blocks. Valley Falls’ Collin Kearney had 20 points, hitting 3 of 3 from three, and Trenten Vanhoutan scored 11.

Centralia 58, Troy 40 — Centralia, which is unbeaten, got 24 points from Oen Deters, who also had 12 rebounds, seven assists, four steals. Tava Gibbs scored 13, and Hayden Kramer had 11 points. Troy’s Harper Whetstine scored 22 points, hitting four threes, and had four assists. Allison Franken had eight rebounds.

Linn 54, Attica 39 — Linn’s Baileigh Peters scored 19 points, hitting four threes, and Marcela Huerta had nine rebounds, Gretchen Bott seven assists. Attica’s Zoie Redgate scored 17, and Baylee Ricke had 10 points, eight rebounds.
