The Goddard Lions’ wrestling team is no stranger to success. The Lions have been a mainstay on the Kansas 5A wrestling scene over the past couple of decades, winning multiple state titles. They owe much of that success to a culture that has been built by great coaches and wrestlers. Goddard senior Harrison Glover is one of the wrestlers that would like to put his stamp on that tradition by leaving behind a strong legacy of commitment and success, “I see myself as one of the team leaders. I try to help the freshmen and newer wrestlers by showing them the ropes. I think we have a really strong team, and we have another good chance at securing a team state title.”
Glover has the resume to command the attention of his younger charges. As a freshman, Harrison placed fifth at the KSHSAA State Championships. His accolades have only increased, and his placements have improved since that time. He finished fourth at state as a sophomore, and then then followed that up with a third place finish last year as a junior. He is currently ranked number one in the state of Kansas at 126 pounds.
Glover has recently battled some challenges, including illness, but is determined to soldier on and finish his high school career on a high note. “The main challenge is trying to stay healthy and free from injury. My main goal is to win a state championship, and I feel I have a really good chance at finishing at the top of the podium this year.
Glover has an incredible weighted GPA of 4.373 and scored an impressive 24 on his ACT. After high school, Harrison currently has plans to go to college to pursue a career in the medical field.
