Detrick Nisly is a senior shooting guard from Haven High School and has a list of many things to look forward to this final season of high school basketball. “I’m definitely looking forward to the Rupp Tournament. It’s a fun competitive tournament, and our fans always show out really well. I’m also just looking forward to playing with this team for one more year.” The icing on the cake for Nisly and the team would be to win the Rupp Tournament.

This year looks like a promising season for Nisly and the team because Haven comes with a lot of experience and returners from last season. While at sub-state last season, Haven was one win away from making the state tournament but lost to Ellsworth. Nisly and teammates hope this year they can write different ending to the story.

Nisly told Vype Magazine the team would get together during the offseason and just practice on shooting to hopefully become a better shooting team. Last season the team tied for first place in the league. This is something Nisly and his teammates are proud of because Haven has not placed first in the league in basketball in a long time. With all the extra shooting practice, hopefully, the team won’t have to share the title this year.

In addition to basketball, Nisly also plays baseball in the spring for Haven. Outside of sports, Nisly is involved in FFA and Rise up Reno. After graduation in the spring, Nisly plans to enter the work field.
