Hesston’s Ethan Coutre – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Advanced Physical Therapy

The expectations are high for the Hesston Swather football team for the 2025 season and returning all-state defensive lineman Ethan Coutre can’t wait for it to start.

“I’m most excited for our team to be able to display the work we’ve put in over the summer and show what we can do together,” Coutre said.

Coutre’s stat line last year was one of the best in Class 3A. The senior racked up 69 tackles (11.5 for a loss), six sacks, seven forced fumbles and six quarterback hurries.

He was also a first team all-league offensive lineman and will play both sides of the ball again in 2025.

But what does he want to improve on this season?

“I wanted to improve my hands this year on the defensive line, so we have been doing drills over the summer to do that,” Coutre said. “I want to have at least one sack a game.”

Coutre went above and beyond throughout the offseason getting his body ready for what he hopes is a season that goes into late November.

“I’ve been going to football camps, getting work in with coaches after lifts, and getting after it in the weight room,” Coutre said.
