This senior year for Cole Bleything is looking very promising on the soccer field. “I think the team we have at Hutch has the potential to make it to state.” Postseason play is definitely on the minds of Bleything and his teammates and the state tournament is the final destination.
During last year’s season, Bleything was named honorable mention for his position, but has since set his goal for bigger things this season. The individual goal for Bleything is to be named first team midfielder for this season. Bleything plays center midfielder and center defensive midfielder for Hutchinson High School.
Some games that are on Bleything’s radar are games against McPherson and Buhler because of the rivalry that is carried with both of these teams. Senior night is another big game for Bleything and his senior teammates to look forward to.
Over the summer months, gym time became more of a focus for Bleything. This year the team started some new training where they train two times a day. One training is before school and the other is after school. All this training helps show the team’s grit and commitment to the sport of soccer. This also gives a chance for Bleything to step up as a senior and encourage underclassmen to be the best they can be.
Although undecided on which college to attend next fall, Bleything is interested in majoring in kinesiology. In addition to soccer, Bleything also plays baseball for the high school in the spring. He is a Junior Leader, Senior Leader, and Service Learning.
