After helping Oxford finish 7-3 last year, junior Tyler Brown wants to focus on fine tuning his leadership skills so he can help lead his team to a league title.

Brown plays tight end and defensive tackle for the Wildcats. He has spent the offseason working with the new players on his team and naming valuable connections with them.

“Now that I’m considered an upperclassman I want to work on my leadership skills and keep my composure during tough situations. Attending all the football activities and making sure my teammates show up for summer workouts,” Brown said.

Brown has been also working on getting stronger and more skilled this off season.

“I’ve been going to summer weights. We are planning on attending multiple football camps including our own and going to 5-on-5s,” Brown said.

On the field Brown is the motivator for the Wildcats and his main motivation for this year is to make sure everyone knows who Oxford is. He plans to do that by putting in the work day in and day out.

Last season Brown earned first team all-league defensive line, first team all-district defensive line and all-state honorable mention defensive line. To earn these honors, Brown racked up 50 tackles, 10 tackles for loss 4.5 sacks, 18 hurries, and one defensive touchdown.
