Azul Maciel, a senior striker/forward, is preparing for her final high school season with a strong sense of purpose and a desire to elevate every part of her game. As a 12th grader, she is motivated to demonstrate her full potential both on the field and in her personal growth, setting an example through her work ethic and dedication.
Maciel has spent the offseason putting in extra effort to improve. Training regularly with her brother and staying consistent in the gym, she has focused on developing her overall strength and sharpening her soccer skills. A key area of emphasis for her has been improving her vision during games by learning to look up, read the field, and involve her teammates more effectively. By working on passing drills and decision-making, she aims to become a more complete and unselfish forward.
Team success remains at the heart of Maciel’s ambitions. While she has always dreamed of winning a state championship, she also values the importance of unity and growth within her team. Building trust and chemistry with her teammates is something she takes seriously, knowing that success comes from working together.
Her past achievements highlight her impact on the field. Despite facing an injury last season, she tallied 7 goals and 3 assists and earned AVCTL Division 1 Honorable Mention Forward recognition. In the previous season, she delivered an impressive performance with 23 goals and 14 assists, leading her team in assists and earning AVCTL 1st Team Midfielder honors.
In addition to soccer, Maciel has competed in basketball, showcasing her athleticism. After graduation, she plans to attend Hutchinson Community College to study Criminal Justice and pursue a career as a police officer.
