Senior cross country runner Eilyannis Fraguada from Derby High School is putting in the final miles for The Panthers. This season Fraguada has set a season goal of a time somewhere between the 19-to-20-minute time range. This year for a team goal, Fraguada and other senior runners want to help lead the strong team to the state championship.
A favorite race for most cross country runners is the Rim Rock Race, and Fraguada is no exception. “It’s a beautiful location with tough competition.” Another meet Fraguada is looking forward to is state and in the process, Fraguada is looking forward to seeing the team grow stronger.
Over the summer months, Fraguada usually runs with The Shocker Track Club but decided to work alone this summer. Fraguada did strength training planned specifically for cross country runners and ran planned runs to prepare for the season. In all the work and preparation for this season, Fraguada will be sure to beat the personal best time of 21.37 set at regionals last season. This was a proud race for Fraguada running harder and mentally stronger than ever before.
After graduation this coming spring, Fraguada plans to pursue a degree in criminology. Fraguada would like to go into the field of police/detective work. Fraguada would like to run track in college and is still looking at options and opportunities for competing. Other than cross country, Fraguada also competes in track and field in the spring. Fraguada also shared a goal for track is also seeing time improvements in events.
