Wichita Trinity girls basketball will be looking for a huge turn around 2024 season. After the Knights’ 6-15 record last season, head coach Terrence Phox and the team are ready to get after it.

With an all-around experienced team and four major returners, Trinity has the look of a team that will be drastically improved in 2024.

“We return four players that played major minutes last year,” Phox said. “We experienced injuries to key players last year which required some of our younger players to get valuable experience at the varsity level. This should prove to be a positive thing for our future success.”

Seniors Courtney Cross, Bethany Pannell, and Emily Chilewa will lead the Knights this season, with three other underclassmen ready to battle. Phox is excited to see how this year’s schedule will challenge the team, and how they will handle the pressure of those postseason and important games.

“We have a tough non-league schedule by design to push us out of our comfort zone,” Phox said. “This will make us a better team as we get closer to the postseason.”

With the season fastly approaching, the preparation for the year begins on day one, and the energy will be expected to stay high and fierce as the season goes along.

“Experienced players on the first day of practice bring a different tone and level of play,” Phox said. “This will allow us to be further than we were last year on the first day. Our goal each day is to be a better team at the end of each practice and prepare to compete at a high level in our next game.”
