Coming off another strong season, senior golfer Seth Benjamin enters the year as one of the key leaders for Andover High School. Because of his work ethic, he has developed into one of the area’s most consistent competitors and is looking to finish his high school career with a memorable final season.

“I feel my biggest strength is coming back after having a bad round or a bad hole and staying positive during negative moments,” Benjamin said. “During my freshman and sophomore years I struggled with that a lot, but over time I’ve gotten better at staying positive and moving on from a bad shot or bad day. Now that I’m a senior, I feel like it’s one of my biggest strengths because it’s something I really focus on during my rounds.”

Benjamin’s love for the game began at an early age.

“I’ve been playing golf ever since I could hold a golf club when I was about two years old in my grandpa’s backyard in California,” Benjamin said.

That early start helped shape the focused approach he brings to the course today. Benjamin often creates pressure situations during practice to replicate the feeling of tournament play.

“When I’m practicing, I set goals to put pressure on myself and make it just like a tournament setting,” Benjamin said. “When I’m playing, my goal is to stay positive and committed to my shots because that helps me end up playing well.”

The senior has set pretty high expectations for his senior season, both individually and as a team.

“My personal goals this year are to beat the scoring average school record and the lowest score school record,” Benjamin said. “Our team goals are to defend our league championship, make it to state, and place in the top five as a team.”
