Augusta’s Dalaney Ratcliff – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Shelter Insurance – Beth Hall

As a sophomore last season, Augusta’s Dalaney Ratcliff was not counted on to be a leading scorer for the Orioles.

Now as a junior, Ratcliff understands she will counted on for points and because of that she worked tirelessly on becoming better at putting the ball in the hoop.

“One area I am wanting to improve on this is year is being more offensively aggressive,” Ratcliff said. “The ways I have worked on this in the offseason is scrimmaging and looking for my shot in a live situation.”

Ratcliff went above and beyond throughout the offseason in order that she was fully prepared for the regular season.

“What I have been doing in the offseason to prepare for the season is going to scrimmages and skill workouts to become more consistent with my shot and ball handling,” Ratcliff said. “I also attended our schools basketball and summer workout camps to get in touch with the coach and team. The last few years I have played on summer basketball teams, doing that has helped me learn the game and be able to communicate with new players and coaches.”

With new head coach Kyrsten Crawford now on the sidelines for Augusta, Ratcliff thinks it’s an exciting time to be an Oriole.

“I also am very excited about our new coach she pushes us every day to be better has a good plan for our program,” Ratcliff said.
