Valley Center’s Morgan Thatcher has a good feeling about the Hornets upcoming season and that has a lot to do with who is coming back and who is coming up.
“Last year our JV team went undefeated and for them to come up to the varsity level this year and add more assets to our team is great,” Thatcher said. “I just have a good feeling about this season, we are all very competitive and want to win as many games as possible. I am super grateful to be in a position to help them and to be a leader on this team.”
Thatcher made 1.4 three-pointers per game last year, but she wants to be considered more than just a long-distance scorer.
“The main thing that I have been focusing on this off-season is working more on my midrange,” Thatcher said. “I wanted to be more comfortable pulling up off the dribble and finding a way to score.”
The past few seasons have been difficult for the Hornets, but Thatcher believes with the talent returning, they can make big strides this season.
“My goals for the season this year is to have a winning record and win our first round of substate,” Thatcher said. “That would just be a super exciting way to go out playing this sport for the last time.”
