Wichita Heights’ Jamielee Jimenez – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Caleb Hanke State Farm

The Wichita Heights softball team finished last season 8-12, finishing fifth in the City Leage (GWAL).   At the end of her junior season, Jamielee Jimenez, a pitcher and second baseman for Heights, was voted MVP and top Offensive Player for the Falcons, “I was honored to be voted in by my teammates. It brings me so much joy to know that they see my efforts and that they thought enough of me to reward me in that way.”

Her teammates were not the only ones who noticed.  Jimenez was also awarded Second-Team All-City as a utility player by the league’s coaches. But just as most great athletes do, Jimenez put in a lot of work in the off-season and would obviously like to finish her career off with a bang, “A big goal for me is getting stronger.  I also worked on improving my hand-eye coordination and increasing my speed and stamina.”

As a senior, Jimenez also embraces her role as a leader, “I see myself as a motivator and an example for my teammates. I want to be someone others can look up to and ask for help.”

Jamielee attributes her love for the game and for sports in general to her father, and she wants to make sure that she enjoys her final season as a Falcon, “I’m super excited for Senior Night. I’m also looking forward to having a great final season with my teammates, having fun, and ending my high school softball career with some memorable highlights.”

After high school, Jamielee plans to enlist with the Kansas Army National Guard.  She also plans to enroll at Wichita State and wants to join their ROTC program. She intends to study and major in exercise science, with a goal of beginning a career as either a physical therapist or an athletic trainer.
