William Thengvall, Kapaun Mount Carmel High School – Prep Performance Of The Month Presented By Hog Wild

Kapaun Mount Carmel’s William Thengvall does not spend time focusing on the awards and accolades.

He chooses to focus on playing hard night in and night out and then all of the successes that come his and the Crusaders’ way.

“As an individual I just want to play the best I can every game to help the team win and when I do that the accolades at the end the season will take care of themselves,” Thengvall said. “As a team I want to win City League again this year for the third year in a row as well as make it to state for the third year in a row.”

Kapaun came up just short of a state championship last season, falling to Andover in the 5A title game.

Thengvall believes the Crusaders have the pieces to make another run in 2024.

“This year our expectation as a team is to win a state championship,” Thengvall said. “Last year we had that same goal and came up short in the state championship game. We have a few good returning pieces this year to achieve this goal so we are looking forward to another good season.”

Last season, Thengvall was not one of the leaders for Kapaun, but now as a senior, he understands that is his responsibility.

“An important focus this year is going to be being a leader and helping the younger guys on the team become comfortable on the court,” Thengvall said. “Because in order to make a deep run in the postseason like last year in the state tournament, it is important we have depth from our bench and we can trust them to make plays.”
