Norwich’s Kimberlyn Grim – Driving Change Athlete – Presented by KTAG

Norwich’s Kimberlyn Grim placed in the top five in two events at the Class 5-1A swim meet last season. Grim took second in the 200 freestyle and fifth in the 100 backstroke.

Those results helped Grim earn a spot at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where she will continue her swimming career next year.

“There is always room for improvement when it comes to sports,” Grim said. “Being a senior this year, I plan to continue on working on technique for every stroke, as well as working on planning out races more thoroughly. How I’ve been preparing for this new swim season is by keeping my mind and body healthy. Mental health has been one of my main priorities and continues to be as I go through my senior year.”

While Grim is focused on improving her results from last year, she also understands the importance of enjoying her senior season.

“My primary focus for this season is to have as much fun as possible and to work my absolute hardest, no matter what race I may be doing,” Grim said. “Some things I would like to accomplish for this season is to go best times in most of all the events and to make top three at state in my chosen swim events.”

Grim said one of her primary strengths is her ability to persevere throughout races, which she believes also motivates her team.

“Training on a daily basis while also pushing through tough practices has taught me to stay committed and consistent,” Grim said. “On the team, I use my strength by staying positive and upbeat, even when challenges may occur. I’ve learned that even if there is one person in a good mood, a positive chain reaction is bound to happen.”
