For Campus freshman Olivia Moffitt, track and field has been her life. Now, as a freshman, she is bringing a level of experience to the team despite being so young.
Moffitt has established herself as a consistent and driven competitor across multiple events, including the 100m, 200m, 4×100, and occasionally the 4×400 relay.
“My best strength as an athlete is my consistency when running and showing up to practice,” Moffitt said.
That consistency has been built over time, starting in 7th grade when she first entered the track world. From early league meets to club competition with the Shocker Youth Track Club, Moffitt’s journey has been defined by constant growth and goal-setting where one summer, she missed qualifying for Junior Olympics by just .01 seconds, which turned into an experience that pushed her to train harder and raise her expectations even higher.
Moffitt would later on place 19th out of 80 athletes at Nike Indoor Nationals in the 60m dash, a result that confirmed her progression.
“I worked through the season winning all golds in my races,” she said. “Then I won both the 100m and 200m at league and set seven records that year.”
That mindset has carried into her freshman season, where her goals remain clear.
“My personal goal is to make it to state as a freshman,” Moffitt said. “Our team goal is to get there with the 4×1.”
Beyond the times and medals, Moffitt says track has taught her something bigger about herself.
“Track made me learn how to set goals and what it takes to achieve them,” she said.
